WISCASSET

RACEWAY

Wiscasset Raceway (Speedway) was built by Wilfred Cronk only a couple miles west of the Town of Wiscasset. From the moment the track opened in 1971, Wiscasset Raceway was billed as the "fastest track in the state". A one-third mile asphalt oval, Wiscasset had the most banking in the turns of any other track in Maine.

Ray Penfold won one of the first track championships at Wiscasset in this '58 Ford. From the moment Wiscasset opened, it has been a "Late Model" track.

Dave Darveau after winning a Sportsman feature race on a Sunday afternoon in 1972.

Dave Darveau was also adept at winning at night. Dave won his only Wiscasset track championship in 1972.

More 'Memories' from Wiscasset Raceway coming soon.
