WINDSOR FAIR - GROUNDS

 

 

 

Windsor Fairgrounds hosted auto racing events for only three years - from 1949 to 1951. Like most fairgrounds facilities in the State of Maine, the track was a half-mile oval with a dirt surface.

 

On occasion, race promoters would add an exhibition race where the cars would race in the opposite direction. It is unknown if the above photo is such an exhibition race or the norm at Windsor Fairgrounds. The familiar Windsor Tower is pictured in the background and still stands today at the fairgrounds.
