OLD ORCHARD BEACH SPEEDWAY

The Old Orchard Beach Speedway was a very unique race track. Located in the woods above the bustling town of Old Orchard, the track was one and an eighth-mile figure-eight shape built in the 1930's. Old Orchard Beach Speedway operated up to the start of World War II in 1941. Because of its unique shape of a very big loop and a very small loop, the track was commonly called the "Kite Track".

Above is an aerial photo taken in 1998. The outline of the Old Orchard Beach Speedway is barely visible (slightly right of center).
