ELLSWORTH

RACEWAY

The Ellsworth Raceway operated in the 1950's into the 1960's. When the raceway first opened, it was a half-mile dirt track but in the 1960's, the exact year is unknown, the racing surface was changed to asphalt. Today, the track is used as a cranberry bog.

"Taking a Lap at Ellsworth"

The following photos are of the remains of Ellsworth Raceway when Ron and Tom Clark visited the old race track in April 2002. Notice much of the asphalt racing surface is in tack.

This is the view heading into turn one.

Trees and grass have grown up in the middle of turn two.

Heading down the backstretch looking towards turn three. This area of the race track is in the worst condition.

Entering turn three. This photo shows the slight banking turn three had.

This photo shows the remains of turn four. Definitely a one groove track now.

Exiting turn four and looking down the front stretch. The completion of a lap at Ellsworth.
